About The Position

GFL Environmental is looking for a Hook Lift Driver to join our team in Edmonton, AB! The Hook Lift Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of business. The driver will safely operate a hook lift truck and ancillary equipment safely on an assigned route to service customers by delivering and removing solid waste containers in a safe and efficient manner and transport to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License. Class 1 or Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Must have valid First aid and H2S Alive Ticket preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.
  • Knowledge of the truck and its components and the basic maintenance Requirements: for safe operation
  • Ability to control operations of equipment; maneuvering truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide valid documentation confirming their eligibility to work in the country where the job is located prior to their start date.

  • Preference given to candidates with previous Hook, Roll Off or waste experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate truck and on-board hydraulic systems to deliver and remove solid waste dumpster containers.
  • Route may vary daily based on service needs.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck report, route sheets and other documentation requested by supervisor daily.
  • Operate truck and equipment using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.
  • Follow all safety standards, equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties.
  • Comply with all federal, state/provincial, local and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed.
  • May be needed to complete route observations on all routes on a pre-determined basis, document findings and provide report to immediate supervisor.
