About The Position

Fillauer is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hook Fabrication Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role is responsible for performing post-machining operations, finishing, assembly, and quality inspections on prosthetic hooks and related components. The Hook Fabrication Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring products meet quality, durability, and performance standards before reaching customers. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on manufacturing work, has strong mechanical aptitude, and takes pride in producing high-quality products that help improve the lives of individuals with limb loss.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or production environment.
  • Experience using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain organized and prioritize work to meet production deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating belt sanders, grinders, hydraulic presses, heat treat ovens, torches, or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Sandblasting experience.
  • Metal fabrication or metal bending experience.
  • Experience working with quality control or inspection processes.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or assembly environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform finishing operations on prosthetic hooks and components, including sanding, grinding, alignment, fitting, and vulcanization of hook fingers.
  • Interpret work orders, production schedules, specifications, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Meet productivity goals while maintaining quality and continuous workflow.
  • Accurately record labor, materials, and production activities using electronic systems.
  • Inspect completed components to ensure conformance to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Verify dimensions and functionality using measuring tools, gauges, and testing methods.
  • Identify and properly handle non-conforming materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by collaborating with supervisors and team members.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment including belt sanders, grinders, hydraulic presses, heat treat ovens, sandblasting equipment, and other production tools.
  • Perform metal forming and bending operations as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and productivity.
