About The Position

The Hood Technician position assists and is responsible for cleaning the grease off the cooking exhaust systems of commercial kitchens. This role also involves supervisory functions relating to crews. Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required.
  • Work with hand/power tools.
  • Demonstrate critical/safety forward thinking skills.
  • Collaborator and ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong diligence and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
  • Frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <60lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >60lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Regularly required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise.
  • Occasionally required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others.
  • Must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Light mechanical ability, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work after hours once facilities are closed, in and outside.
  • Interact professionally with restaurant management and staff; be honest and trustworthy.
  • Perform inspections, clean up, and some maintenance.
  • Take photos of work.
  • Drive to and from job sites and the shop.
  • Fill out paperwork.
  • Keep truck and machine in working condition.
  • Clean kitchen exhaust systems including fans.
  • Work on roofs, clean filters, and work safely with ladders and chemicals.
  • Arrive at pre-scheduled appointments on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
