About The Position

Piper Fire Protection's Clearwater, FL branch is seeking reliable and hardworking Commercial Kitchen Hood Cleaning Technician Helpers to assist with cleaning, inspection, and basic maintenance of commercial kitchen exhaust systems. This role supports experienced technicians as part of a service crew and provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning industry. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional customer service. This position involves physically demanding, hands-on labor in industrial environments and requires schedule flexibility, including occasional night or early morning work to accommodate customer operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in heavy‑labor, industrial, or commercial cleaning environments with transferable skills.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and dirty environments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on safety, reliability, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in commercial cleaning, pressure washing, construction labor, industrial services, or commercial kitchen hood cleaning preferred.
  • Prior experience using pressure washing equipment.
  • IKECA certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist crew members with cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust hood systems in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Support pressure washing and degreasing of hood canopies, duct collars, ductwork, exhaust fans, and related system components.
  • Help prepare job sites, equipment, and materials before and during service work.
  • Assist with inspections and ensure equipment and system components are properly reassembled following service.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized work area at customer locations and in company vehicles.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while on customer premises and while traveling between job sites.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work flexible hours, including occasional night, early morning, or extended shifts based on customer needs.
  • Communicate job status, issues, or delays with lead technicians and supervisors as needed.
  • Complete assigned work in a timely manner while meeting quality and safety expectations.
