About The Position

The Homesense Department Supervisor is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team, and delivering an excellent customer experience. The role involves engaging with customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and modeling exceptional customer service. The supervisor also helps coordinate truck deliveries, merchandise flow, back-stock organization, team productivity, training, safety, compliance, and store shrink-reduction efforts.

Requirements

One year of retail experience.
Six months of leadership experience.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Superior communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Able to multitask.
Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
Team player who works effectively with peers and supervisors.
Able to lift heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to train others.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience and role-model exceptional customer service.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks according to the store plan and reprioritize as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates and provide progress updates.
Give and receive recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
