About The Position

The Hospice Homemaker provides non-medical support services to patients in their homes. This role includes assistance with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and companionship, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients receiving hospice care. The Homemaker works under the supervision of a licensed nurse and follows the care plan established by the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Compassionate demeanor, effective communication skills, and ability to follow instructions.
• Requires prolonged standing and walking, ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to manage stressful situations calmly and courteously and make quick decisions to meet patient needs.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a caregiving or homemaker role preferred; hospice experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide light housekeeping services such as dusting, vacuuming, and laundry.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation according to patient preferences and dietary needs.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to patients.
• Observe and report changes in the patient’s environment or condition to the supervising nurse.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures during service delivery.
• Document services provided accurately and timely.
• Participate in in-service training and quality improvement activities.
