About The Position

Right At Home In Home Care, located in Wallingford CT is currently hiring retirees and veterans looking for new opportunities as a Homemaker/Companion. The ideal candidate will be open to change, willingness to learn new skills, provide companionship and home care assistance to our elderly clients. Targeted areas: Wallingford, Meriden, Middletown, Southington, Cheshire, Waterbury, Naugatuck, Watertown, Woodbury and surrounding areas. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Valid Driver's license and auto insurance
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have the ability to pass a full employment background check
  • Must have basic computer skills and navigate with little assistance from others
  • Meets the requirements for employees providing direct patient care
  • Must have successfully completed a Competency Evaluation that meets the State licensing law for home health agencies

Nice To Haves

  • CNA or HHA Certification
  • 6 months of experience as a Caregiver/Home Health Aide in healthcare preferred
  • Covid Vaccination
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Current CPR Certificate is recommended
  • 6 months experience as a Home Health Aide in health care (in homes or facilities) and successful completion of a State-approved Nurse Aide or Home Health Aide course.

Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and home care assistance to elderly clients.
  • Assistance with eating, personal hygiene, dressing, shaving, light housekeeping, laundry, and other household chores.
  • Prepare meals.
  • Medication reminders.
  • Assisting with prescribed range of motion exercises.
  • Dementia care.
  • Companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.
