LAHSA, created in 1993, is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care (CoC), we coordinate and manage federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.

Requirements

  • Experience performing intakes and assessing social service needs.
  • Experience working with substance abusers and/or persons with multiple diagnoses.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with diverse organizations and community representatives.
  • Good conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work and lead teams with professionalism.
  • Applicants should possess a positive attitude, an ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations, be energetic and independent, and have a strong desire to learn.
  • Good communication typing skills and computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Any combination of extensive and applicable work experience and educational credentials to perform the above duties successfully.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of hire.
  • Employees must have a good driving record for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • This position requires the employee to reside within the State of California.

Responsibilities

  • Assist homeless people in response to requests received and while performing outreach duties.
  • Identify and investigate homeless situations based on requests received.
  • Provide linkages to resources available for the homeless population.
  • Maintain a comprehensive up-to-date resource base for homeless services and referrals.
  • Maintain up to date Clarity (HMIS) Records for services provided to clients directly in the field.
  • Work with Senior staff to plan daily schedule.
  • Maintain professional relationships with offices of local government, and City and County Departments.
  • Represent LAHSA at community meetings and advocate for clients at CES and Case Conferencing meetings.
  • Review Request for Services to identify areas of necessary follow-up.
  • Perform duties assigned by management for region or department needs.
