About The Position

Provide a continuation of educational services in the hospital/home to eligible students who are unable to attend regular classes due to serious illness or accidents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas Educator Certificate
  • Certified Kinder through 12th Grade
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and prove insurability.
  • District-wide travel required-possess reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of the core areas of instruction
  • Knowledge of students with special needs
  • Knowledge of Section 504 Process
  • Knowledge of the General Education Homebound process from initial stages of a student returning to the home campus
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience or equivalent experience with school-age children.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Special Education Certificate Preferred
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adapt appropriate grade level instruction to the needs of the student.
  • Arrange and modify the hospital/homebound program based on student’s physical needs, interest, and abilities per Section 504 plan.
  • Collaborate with parents and all personnel involved with the assigned student.
  • Assess academic growth at each meeting with the student and at other regular intervals to determine the student’s progress towards meeting academic goals and objectives.
  • Consistently assess and modify assignments as needed for assigned students.
  • Present a positive role model for students that supports the vision and mission of the school district.
  • Provide positive and successful opportunities for students to develop positive self-esteem.
  • Coordinate the schoolwork of the regular class and the homebound service so that the student will be able to return to school and be educated in the least restrictive environment with peers.
  • Keep informed of, and comply with, all campus, district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Adhere to policies and practices addressing specific duties and responsibilities of the assigned position.
  • Complete, submit, and maintain all reports, records, and documents.
  • Secure assignments from classroom teachers and provide materials to students with appropriate instruction in each subject area, and return assignments to the classroom teacher for grading purposes.
  • Create and maintain a safe and positive environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of assigned students.
  • Supervise aides, student teachers, and/or interns as designated.
  • Using district-provided technology, communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, personnel from community agencies, and other professional staff in the education, care, and management of students.
  • Communicate effectively with school personnel to procure and update students' assignments and progress.
  • Communicate and convey information with clarity regarding the district's programs.
  • Act as an effective liaison among staff, parents and community.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in-district in-service training.
  • Demonstrate interest in professional improvement.
  • Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.
