About The Position

Under the supervision of the Early Head Start Supervisor, the Home Visitor is primarily responsible for providing service delivery that capitalizes on the home as the primary learning environment. The Home Visitor also provides to pregnant women and children with their family's comprehensive services that cover all the elements of Head Start program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional courses or specialized training at a business or community college, or other formal training facility or program.
  • Ability to understand and carry out assigned duties effectively.
  • Computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics.
  • Minimum of a home-based CDA credential or compatible credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum.
  • Promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate.
  • Build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.

  • Experience with Pregnant Women and children ages 0-3 and their families.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.

  • Valid Hawaii driver's license.
  • Clear driver's abstract.
  • Willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • Subject to a criminal background investigation.
