About The Position

Home Support Aides (HSAs) provide homemaking services to clients in homes across Nova Scotia. HSAs collaborate with members of the health care team to meet individuals' needs to sustain an optimal level of independence and well-being.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required
Current CPR and First Aid certification is required
Safe Food Handler and WHIMIS certification is required
A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check is required. A Vulnerable Sector Search may also be required
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Willingness to travel within the sites service area

Nice To Haves

Experience working with seniors and persons with disabilities preferred
Experience working for a professional cleaning services organization preferred
Customer service experience preferred
Experience working with people from different social and economic environments preferred

Responsibilities

Perform light housekeeping for clients in their home, including cleaning living areas, vacuuming, mopping floors, laundry, dishwashing, and more
Plan, prepare and serve meals
Provide companionship and develop professional relationships with clients
Assist with walking and stabilization
Communicate with members of the health team regarding the client's homemaking, physical, and emotional needs to assist with the development of the client care plan
Complete environmental risk assessments
Maintain focus of client independence, health status, safety, and quality of life
