About The Position

The Home Mortgage Specialist solicits residential loan applications, quotes mortgage rates, and compiles complete loan packages for submission to the Home Mortgage underwriting department. This position develops and maintains external referral sources while supporting customers referred from assigned branches. The role delivers exceptional customer service and ensures compliance with all regulatory and Bank requirements.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or GED.
  • Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) registration through the Nationwide Mortgage License System and Registry (NMLS).
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct experience in mortgage lending or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers and business partners.
  • Professional, courteous, and efficient customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of residential mortgage products, lending practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in banking and mortgage‑related technology systems, including Microsoft 365, loan origination platforms, and other secure business applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Securities licenses, including Series 7 and Series 66, are held and maintained by the Bank or its affiliated entity.

Responsibilities

  • Meets loan production goals as assigned by the Home Mortgage Sales Manager.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Solicits real estate loan applications from sources outside the Bank through effective business development efforts.
  • Completes loan packages and required documentation for submission to processing while strictly adhering to all regulatory and Bank requirements for the protection of Non‑Public Personal Information (NPPI).
  • Quotes mortgage rates and explains loan programs accurately and completely to borrowers.
  • Works with loan processors, customers, title companies, and other parties as necessary to support loan completion.
  • Fosters a productive team atmosphere with assigned branches and the Home Mortgage underwriting department.
  • Ensures compliance with Bank policies and procedures and all applicable federal and state laws, including but not limited to BSA (SARs, CIP, OFAC), GLBA, Identity Theft Red Flags, and Financial Elder Abuse Reporting requirements.
