About The Position

The Home Inspector is responsible for the overall delivery of the home inspection initiative for Tartan Homes. The Home Inspector, in coordination with the Customer Service Manager, is responsible for designing and carrying out policies and procedures that support the home inspection process in our Tartan communities.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of experience in residential construction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Provincial Building Code, the Provincial Building Code Act, Provincial Plumbing Code, Fire Code and applicable Municipal, Provincial and Federal laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of home building industry.
  • Strong customer service skills in dealing with homeowners.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to coordinate several simultaneous tasks while maintaining a positive attitude and flexible work style.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work well independently, and a willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Current valid certifications in Working at Heights, Forklift, Propane and Natural Gas, First Aid, WHMIS 2015 and Health and Safety Awareness would be a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure homes are constructed in accordance with approved plans, applicable building standards, Tarion requirements, and company quality expectations through inspections conducted throughout the construction and post-closing lifecycle.
  • Champion a positive homeowner experience by leading pre-delivery inspections, warranty reviews, conciliations, and other homeowner meetings, providing clear communication and professional guidance throughout the process.
  • Identify deficiencies, construction concerns, and warranty-related issues, and provide detailed recommendations to support timely resolution and uphold workmanship standards.
  • Act as a liaison between Construction, Customer Service, Service Technicians, trades, and homeowners to facilitate issue resolution, align expectations, and ensure corrective work is completed effectively.
  • Support continuous quality improvement by collaborating with Construction teams and leadership to identify recurring issues, promote accountability, and maintain consistency across all communities.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and work orders to support service delivery, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and verify the completion of repairs and corrective actions, ensuring deficiencies are addressed appropriately and customer concerns are resolved.
  • Manage escalated homeowner concerns and complex warranty matters, working with internal stakeholders to achieve fair and timely resolutions.
  • Conduct all inspections and investigations with a focus on quality assurance, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and the mitigation of organizational risk and liability.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities and objectives of the role.
