As a Home Infusion Nurse, you’ll provide one on one, skilled clinical care to patients where they feel most comfortable—at home or in an ambulatory infusion suite. Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts
  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Rhode Island or willing to obtain in first 6 months (paid by business)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • 1+ years of RN experience in a clinical setting supporting infusion or IV therapy (e.g., ICU, Med Surg, ED, PACU)
  • Proven ability to work independently with solid clinical judgment and effective interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to cover an 80 mile service radius while working an average of 20 hours per week

Nice To Haves

  • Home infusion experience
  • Knowledge of Infusion Nursing Society (INS) standards
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and EMR platforms
  • Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and home infusion accreditation guidelines
  • Proven solid communication, organization, critical thinking, and teaching skills

Responsibilities

  • Travel to patient homes and related sites using a personal or rental vehicle in accordance with company travel policies
  • Provide safe and compliant infusion services in accordance with Optum Infusion Pharmacy policies, protocols, and physician orders
  • Establish and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with patients and caregivers, including education on self-care and self-administration
  • Assess patient suitability for home infusion therapy, including home safety, caregiver support, and patient independence
  • Obtain and maintain accurate patient medical histories, clinical assessments, and all required documentation, including plans of care, visit notes, medication profiles, and discharge summaries
  • Deliver skilled nursing care across a range of patient ages and conditions based on physician orders and treatment plans
  • Establish, access, and maintain vascular devices, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, tunneled catheters, and implanted ports
  • Administer medications and monitor patient responses, including managing infusion reactions, vital signs, side effects, and lab collection
  • Communicate patient status and therapy response promptly with physicians, pharmacists, supervisors, and other care team members
  • Assist in staff orientation and training, serving as a clinical educator and resource as requested
