Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and frequently change direction.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to a reliable automobile.
  • College degree/ certification required or equivalent experience.
  • RN: 2 years (Required)
  • Accessing PIV lines, Ports and maintaining PICC lines: 1 year (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • ER/ICU/Infusion: 1 year preferred (critical thinking)
  • Infusion experience in a hospital or Home Health setting: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-home infusion therapy as a full-time infusion nurse, with regular travel required to patient residences.
  • Support clinical and operational efficiency by performing administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Nurse Supervisor to meet required hourly commitments.
  • Maintain a consistent work schedule, committing to a minimum average of 32 hours per week, with flexibility to work up to 40 hours per week as needed.
  • Administers prescribed specialty medications through intravenous (IV), subcutaneous, or other appropriate routes in accordance with provider orders and established protocols.
  • Monitors patients closely throughout the infusion process to identify and respond promptly to any adverse reactions or complications.
  • Conducts comprehensive pre-treatment assessments, including review of the patient’s medical history, allergies, and current medications to ensure safe and effective therapy.
  • Evaluates and monitors the patient’s physical condition and vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate) before, during, and after infusion procedures.
  • Identifies, documents, and communicates any potential risks, adverse reactions, or complications associated with infusion therapy in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Educates patients and caregivers on prescribed medications, including their purpose, mechanism of action, potential side effects, and what to expect throughout the treatment process.
  • Provides clear post-infusion guidance, including instructions for managing side effects and responding to potential emergencies at home.
  • Monitors patients continuously during and after infusions to promptly identify and address any immediate adverse reactions.
  • Coordinates and conducts follow-up communications, including calls or visits, to assess patient progress and monitor for delayed side effects.
  • Provides clinical feedback and collaborates on care plan adjustments based on patient response, condition changes, or reported concerns.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate documentation of the infusion process, including patient responses, adverse events, and medication administration details.
  • Records patient education and follow-up instructions in compliance with healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and pharmacy policies.
  • Collaborates closely with the nursing team, pharmacists, and pharmacy staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care and effective implementation of treatment plans.
  • Communicates promptly with the Clinical Nurse Supervisor regarding any concerns related to treatment effectiveness, patient responses, or adverse reactions.
  • Ensure proper preparation and handling of medications in accordance with established safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Verifies medication accuracy, confirming the correct drug and dosage are prepared and administered for each individual patient.
  • Maintains strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols throughout the infusion process to ensure patient safety and procedural integrity.
  • Follows established infection control guidelines to prevent contamination during the preparation and administration of medications.
  • Monitors inventory levels of specialty medications and infusion-related supplies to ensure consistent availability and prevent shortages.
  • Collaborates with the pharmacy team to manage inventory effectively, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate stock control.
  • Provides support for insurance verification and prior authorization processes related to specialty medications, ensuring timely access to prescribed therapies.
  • Clinical staff who hold an active IgCN certification may be required to participate in CSI’s Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program as part of their role. Participation is dependent on operational needs and program assignments.
  • Serve as an IgCN mentor to new or transferring nursing staff who are local or regional to the mentor, as assigned.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and professional support to less experienced nurses to support safe and effective immunoglobulin therapy delivery.
  • Assist with training activities as outlined by the Ig educator, including review of educational materials, infusion protocols, and patient care standards.
  • Support skills development through direct observation, coaching, and feedback related to immunoglobulin administration and patient management.
  • Act as a clinical resource to the assigned mentee throughout the defined orientation or transition period.
  • Participate in document review, including competency checklists, orientation materials, and required training records.
  • Conduct direct observation of clinical practice as required and assess the mentee’s level of competency within the defined orientation period.
  • Document mentorship activities, observations, and competency assessments in accordance with CSI policies and accreditation requirements.
