BrightStar Care is seeking compassionate and dependable Home Health Aides (HHA) for ongoing care positions to provide essential in-home support to clients. This role focuses on helping individuals maintain comfort, dignity, and independence at home by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and light housekeeping. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified CPR
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance (proof of insurance is required)
  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA and ensure confidentiality and security of the client's medical information
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively
  • Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19, Influenza, and Hepatitis B

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year of documented home care assistance and/or direct care experience at an assisted living or skilled nursing facility, etc.
  • Successful completion of a nursing assistant or certified home health aide program

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and light housekeeping, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Support safe mobility and transfers while assisting the client with movement and positioning.
  • Assist with ventilator care (training available), PEG feeding, colostomy care, and wound care as needed.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to ensure client comfort, dignity, and well-being.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's condition to supervisors or case managers.
  • Follow the established care plan and maintain clear communication with the care team.
  • Provide client-facing care as assigned.
  • Provide assistance with daily tasks as directed in the client's personalized plan of care, including but not limited to: feeding, meal preparation, linen changes, light housekeeping, providing transportation to doctor appointments, outdoor activities, and shopping.
  • Provide companionship, personal and hygiene care as directed in the client's personalized plan of care, including but not limited to: bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, undressing, toileting activities, and assisting with measurements, if necessary.
  • Assist clients with active and passive mobility work defined by the plan of care, and document observed changes to the Director of Nursing.
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency of employment.
  • Adhere to HIPAA laws and ensure confidentiality and security of the client's medical information.
