About The Position

Our Home Health Aides work closely with our Occupational Therapy team to help clients build confidence and regain independence with everyday activities. This is a part-time opportunity averaging approximately 10 hours per week, with room to grow into additional hours if desired. You will partner with our Occupational Therapy team to support client goals and progress, help clients improve independence and safety with activities of daily living (ADLs), and provide hands-on support while encouraging clients to do as much as they can independently. You will also build meaningful relationships with clients and families and be part of a collaborative home health team where your work directly supports the overall plan of care. Serve patients throughout the Twin Cities metro and surrounding communities. The Aide understands the basic elements of body functioning and the physical and emotional changes including those which occur in the death and dying process. Utilizes appropriate age related patient/resident care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients/residents. Assists patients/residents in daily living activities such as dressing and undressing, bathing and eating. Must have good interpersonal skills, be courteous and caring. Must know medical terminology, organizational policies and procedures. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of all client populations.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Completion of nurse aide training, including classroom and practical training, totaling 75 hours preferred.
  • Within the 75 hours of training, a minimum of 16 hours supervised practical training and a minimum of 16 hours in classroom training.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
  • If working in North Dakota, be registered as Home Health Aide through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of hire.
  • Depending on location, a valid drivers license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks as delegated and indicated on the care plan for assigned patients/residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and willingly accepts delegated tasks.
