About The Position
As a per diem Home Health Aide, you will provide hands-on personal care and assistance to patients in their residences, supporting comfort, dignity, and daily functioning. You will assist with activities of daily living under the supervision of licensed clinical staff and follow individualized care plans. The role contributes to patient safety, independence, and quality of life. Amedisys is part of the Optum family of businesses and provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. Requirements
- Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant, in accordance with state requirements.
- Current CPR certification.
- CNA experience within the last two years; if experience was more than two years ago, completion of another training and competency program is required before providing services.
- Successfully pass the care center competency program.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patients’ temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
- Assist patients with getting in and out of bed, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.
- Prepare and provide meals and/or assist patients with meals.
- Perform light homemaking and other environmental services.
- Observe, report, and document changes in patient status.
- Understand basic elements of body functioning and report changes in patients’ body functions as indicated.
- Recognize emergency situations and implement appropriate emergency procedures according to care center policy.
- Follow care center procedures for infection prevention and control, hazardous-waste handling, and safety measures.
- Follow written personal-care instructions in accordance with the plan of care.
- Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
