About The Position

The Home Hardlines Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintains a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The clerk assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The role supports the Customer 1st strategy, encourages associates to provide excellent service, and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products in the department and throughout the store.
• Maintain knowledge of department products, answer questions, and make product suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover items or learn about products they ask about.
• Inform customers about Drug GM and Home specials.
• Recommend Drug GM and Home items to help customers find the products they want and need.
• Review sell-by dates and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
• Follow safety procedures, reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
