About The Position

The Home Equity Closer efficiently and accurately prepares Home Equity Term and Home Equity Lines of Credit loan files for closing, in accordance with policies, credit union guidelines, and regulatory requirements while meeting various time-sensitive deadlines and providing a high level of member satisfaction. This role involves reviewing loan files, requesting and verifying necessary documentation, creating and reviewing closing documents, funding mortgage loans, and processing post-closing forms. The position requires strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills, as well as maintaining knowledge of Home Equity products and relevant regulations. The Closer will manage a closing pipeline, produce document packages, and collaborate with team members and external partners to ensure efficiency and member satisfaction.

Requirements

  • One year of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must maintain active/current registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) throughout employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Favorable Background, Credit, Criminal, Bondability, and Reference Checks required.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting consumer loans.
  • Knowledge of consumer loan policies, procedures, products, and services.
  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, computer terminal and keyboard, facsimile, calculator, and understands computer basics.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver clear information.
  • Must be capable of dealing with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within the outside of the organization in a calm and professional manner and demonstrate highest levels of customer service when dealing with the members.
  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of fast-paced deadlines and requirements for extreme accuracy and quality.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion when handling internal and external confidential matters.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews loan file in preparation for closing process.
  • Requests and reviews information and documentation (including payoffs) from Real Estate law firms, Processing, Servicing, and Underwriting to ensure it is complete, accurate, and meets guidelines.
  • Creates and reviews closing documents in accordance with TRID (when applicable).
  • Funds mortgage loans on funding date, including transferring funds via CORE system or wire transfer.
  • Boards and disburses loans into CORE system.
  • Processes Automatic Payment forms, ACH, and/or Address Change forms post-closing.
  • Provides coverage to other Home Equity Closers, on all items referenced above, as needed.
  • Exhibits problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Maintains knowledge of Home Equity products and programs, policies, and guidelines as well as other EastRise products and services.
  • Efficiently and accurately manages closing pipeline to ensure closing and funding dates are within compliance.
  • Able to organize and prioritize a large pipeline.
  • Produce document packages and document revisions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Works overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Works in conjunction with Home Equity team members, credit union team members, and Real Estate law firms to achieve the maximum efficiency and best practices resulting in member satisfaction.
  • Communicates effectively via phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Able to explain complex scenarios, in an appropriate manner and tone without grammatical or spelling errors.
  • Maintains positive relationships with Real Estate law firms.
  • Works with Home Equity Operations Manager to provide feedback as applicable.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
