We've been a lifeline for thousands of older adults in the Portland Metro Area, providing independence through weekly meal delivery and social connections. Join our On-Call Team: Your Time, Your Location! We're on the lookout for passionate individuals to join our On-Call team. Work as a Home Delivery Coordinator managing the daily Home Delivery Program or as a Site/Kitchen Coordinator preparing dining services for our congregate meal participants. Here, flexibility is key! Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certification or ability to obtain within two weeks from date of hire.
  • Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one within 18 months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and transportation required.
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain within 18 months from date of hire.
  • Proven experience to effectively manage, engage and retain volunteers.
  • Excellent organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities.
  • Strong ability to problem solve and implement solutions.
  • Proficient in computer applications and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience with client data management systems a plus.
  • Must successfully complete and pass Meals on Wheels People pre-employment screening.
  • Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.

  • Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-time delivery of meals to home-bound participants following all standards developed by Meals on Wheels People.
  • Schedule volunteer drivers for each route daily.
  • Maintain route books with accurate delivery information on MOW participants; make adjustments as needed.
  • Follow up with home delivery participant if the driver is unable to deliver the meal.
  • Responsible for home delivery participant care, including reassessments, change of condition tracking and record maintenance; alert Service Coordinator and Site Manager as necessary regarding needs/high-risk clients.
  • Perform Meals on Wheels delivery duties for routes lacking volunteer coverage.
  • Assist Site Manager as necessary with responsive hunger relief services.
  • Supplemental meals for clients with food insecurity.
  • Meal services for partnerships and contracts.
  • Ethnic meals.
  • Programming in response to isolation.
  • Assist in screening, registration, and training of volunteers.
  • Maintain and update client and volunteer information
  • Complete all required administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Have knowledge of and support Meals on Wheels People agency wide events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Participate in in-service training and attend required meetings.
  • Support mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
