About The Position

The Retail Home Consultant creates a world-class home-buying experience by helping customers identify a floor plan, choose options, and coordinate the construction process. The role involves connecting with prospective buyers, presenting display homes and their features, and guiding customers through the home-buying journey. Consultants develop product, financing, sales, and local-market expertise while contributing to the retail home center’s sales and merchandising efforts.

Requirements

• At least six months of relationship-driven business-to-consumer sales experience is preferred.
• General understanding of the retail environment.
• Ability to obtain appropriate manufactured-home sales licensing.
• Ability to learn and comply with legal requirements applicable to manufactured-home sales.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to contribute and excel in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Professional demeanor and appearance.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Protect Clayton’s brand and assets by maintaining integrity throughout the sales process.
• Develop expertise in financing and mortgage concepts, products, sales, presentation skills, and the local market.
• Maintain customer files and provide timely follow-up with prospective buyers using the company CRM system.
• Help the manager select inventory, decorate model homes, and maintain their appearance.
• Develop and execute a strategic sales and marketing plan to increase home center traffic.
• Present display homes to potential buyers and demonstrate features and benefits.
• Set home center appointments using the prospect database and by converting advertising calls and web leads.
• Participate in sales meetings, training opportunities, and other company-sponsored functions.
• Collaborate with the team and assist with miscellaneous duties as required.
• Work the required schedule, including Saturdays.
• Walk the lot and show homes throughout all seasons.
• Move and lift furniture, promotional items, and other materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
