About The Position

Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services provides primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services to community members across the seven First Nations of the Mamaweswen North Shore Tribal Council. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Home Care Nurse (RPN) to join our Home and Community Support Services team to provide in-home nursing services to Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Serpent River First Nation and Mississauga First Nation. The primary objective of this role is to provide comprehensive nursing care in the community setting that assists clients in achieving optimum health and quality of life, while supporting them to remain safely and independently in their homes for as long as possible. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary and culturally grounded care environment that values holistic wellness, relationship-building, and community-centered care.

Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in a hospital, physician’s office, or in-home clinical care setting
  • Full-scope RPN skills required, including: IV therapy, Wound care, Ostomy care, Tube feeding, Palliative care
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within 3 months
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations
  • Indigenous cultural competency training certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate health teaching initiatives
  • Clear vulnerable sector criminal reference check as a condition of employment
  • Access to a reliable personal vehicle
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Experience working with older adults in a community setting is considered an asset
