Home Care Aide - Provide one on one Care
About The Position
Visiting Angels Des Moines is a non-medical in-home care company serving Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, and Altoona. Its clients are seniors and adults with disabilities who want to remain safely in their homes. Home Care Aides provide one-on-one care to one client at a time in the client’s home, rather than caring for multiple residents in a facility. The role involves working independently and making sound decisions without a coworker nearby or direct supervision. It is non-medical and does not involve clinical tasks. Paid, hands-on training is provided at the company’s Urbandale office.
Requirements
- Experience or a background in a care facility or as a CNA is relevant to the role.
- Ability to transfer clients safely, notice changes in their condition, and remain calm when supporting a client with dementia.
- Ability to work independently in clients’ homes and make sound decisions.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Assist clients with safe transfers and mobility.
- Help prevent falls and keep the home safe.
- Prepare meals, provide medication reminders, perform light housekeeping, and run errands.
- Provide dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Offer companionship and attentive, unrushed care.
- Work independently in clients’ homes and make appropriate decisions without direct supervision.
