About The Position

Visiting Angels West Springfield is a leading in-home care agency in Western Massachusetts that offers homecare services to seniors, veterans, and disabled adults. The franchise owner, Michele Anstett, started the business in 1999 and has grown it to provide over 80,000 hours of care annually. The agency focuses on providing compassionate, personalized care consistently, aiming to exceed expectations and prioritize the safety, health, happiness, and well-being of their clients. They offer a range of services including in-home care, senior homecare, elderly care, personal care, transitional care, fall prevention care, companion care, respite care, palliative care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care. Services can range from 1-hour visits to 24/7 care. The agency has received accreditation from the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts and has won Home Care Pulse's award for Best of Home Care - Provider of Choice every year since 2015. They are currently hiring caregivers to provide companionship and daily attendance to clients, ensuring they are safe and happy. This specific role involves spending time with a client who has moderate dementia, engaging in activities like breakfast outings, shopping, walking, and conversation.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of caregiving experience.
  • Dementia Experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable vehicle.
  • Clean motor vehicle record.
  • Provide at least 2 professional references.
  • Willing to submit to background checks.
  • Willing to accept 1 shift every other weekend.
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Compassionate and caring heart.
  • Patience and willingness to learn new skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications are welcome (CNA, HHA, etc.) but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and daily attendance to clients.
  • Assist clients with activities such as going to breakfast, shopping, and walking.
  • Engage clients in conversation.
  • Ensure clients are kept safe and happy.
  • Read ADLs and personal care instructions.
  • Communicate verbally with clients and families.
  • Write shift notes to update the family, office, and other caregivers.
  • Provide care services ranging from 1 hour visits to 24/7 care.
  • Offer companion care, respite care, palliative care, dementia care and Alzheimer's care.
