About The Position

Aveanna Healthcare is seeking a Home Care Aide to join their dynamic team. The Home Care Aide is responsible for providing non-medical personal care, supervision, assistance, and companionship to clients who require support due to advanced age, physical disabilities, mental deficiencies, or other health-related conditions. This role also involves maintaining a safe and clean environment for these clients.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English.
  • Must have a state-issued Home Care Aide certification.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity.
  • Must have strong sense of smell and touch.
  • Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.
  • Quick-thinking and astute decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Initial demonstration by a family member, physical therapist, or other licensed healthcare professional is recommended for Range of Motion exercises.

Responsibilities

  • Assistance with clients’ Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including ambulation, transfers, bathing, grooming, hygiene, meal preparation, dressing, and toileting.
  • Provide oral medication reminders (caregivers are not permitted to administer medication).
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment, including laundry, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and maintaining tidiness of client's living areas.
  • Provide supervision and companionship, engaging clients in conversation, taking them for walks, and entertaining them with activities like reading or games.
  • Assist with Range of Motion exercises as requested.
  • Comply with all state laws and agency policies regarding mandated reporting of suspected abuse and domestic violence.
  • Adhere to agency policies regarding privacy and confidentiality, including HIPAA laws.
  • Observe safety guidelines as outlined in the Employee Safety Manual.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or changes in client's condition to the supervisor immediately.
  • Arrive promptly for and complete all assigned shifts, notifying the supervisor of any requested schedule changes as soon as possible and prior to implementation.
