Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. required.
- Current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, to practice medicine in Kentucky, including DEA registration and controlled substance authority, required.
- Board certified or board eligible, with board certification expected within five years of employment, required.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order, that is insured in accordance with state minimum requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Fellowship training in Geriatrics is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care in patients’ homes, assisted living facilities, and personal care facilities.
- Serves as a clinical supervisor and subject matter expert for home-based primary care nurse practitioners practicing in the same settings.
- Evaluates and treats chronic conditions and urgent episodic illnesses and injuries.
- Orders and interprets selected laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Makes referrals to specialists as needed.
- Prescribes medications.
- Performs procedures within the physician’s scope of practice, established protocols, and available equipment.
