About The Position

The Home Base Teacher is responsible to engage in a collaborative partnership, joining the family in their system that is rooted in cultural practices, beliefs, and individual experiences. Delivering comprehensive services including implementation of curriculum, child assessment, family advocacy, that includes all content area in accordance with Pinal Gila Community Child Services (PGCCS) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS). The Home Base Teacher will ultimately be evaluated on a combination of skills, dispositions, and behaviors, some of which are related to the specific service area of this position and others that represent general expectations of all our agency employees.

Requirements

Minimum of a Home visitation CDA or an AA degree in social work or related field required.
One year working in; Early Care & Education, Social Services, Education, Home Visitation, or Health Care.
Advanced Beginner to intermediate computer skills, internet and e-mail.
Maintain Arizona Driver's License, proof of insurance, fingerprint card, Social Security card, CPR and First Aid, Food handlers Card, and provide a vehicle for program business, as needed.
Health Questionnaire is required at hire and will be updated every 3 years.
Meet all agencies, state and federal required immunizations or have an approved exemption on file.
Employee must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Child Care Licensure, and community resources available to families in the assigned community.
Intermediate to excellent oral and written communication skills; communicates in a professional manner with internal and external customers.
Proficient in building productive, collaborative relationships.
Ability to prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the ongoing needs of enrolled families.
Ability to assist with program goals and objectives and implement new procedures as directed.
Ability to work semi-independently under specific time frames and with complex and sensitive information; works collaboratively with sites, program, and community.
Ability to demonstrate/capable understanding of the DCS reporting system and the signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect.

Nice To Haves

BA degree preferred.
Preferred experience working with local community resources, diverse cultures, & adults.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Delivers direct services to families with children ages 0-5 and expectant families within home base.
Remains knowledgeable of and current with Head Start Program Performance Standards in relation to home-based services.
Partners with all content areas -- Education, Health, Nutrition, Disability, Family and community partners supporting high-quality services to families.
Promotes healthy parent-child relationships by recognizing that parenting develops within supportive relationships with family members and other trusted supporters; viewing the parent as the expert on their child.
Builds on parents' strengths by listening and normalizing parenting using the Touchpoint approach.
Plans and carries out home-based learning experiences that support effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children's progress across the standards outlined in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five. This includes providing appropriate support for children with disabilities and dual language learners, while building respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.
Works with parents to develop and implement educational programs, including ongoing assessment, individual education plans, and IEP/IFSP goals as applicable.
Facilitates socialization opportunities for enrolled and wait-listed families and their children.
Knowledgeable of community partners; provides referrals with appropriate follow-up.
Participates in the site team for coordinated parent events, LPC, team activities, and community events.
Attends in-house training opportunities and works toward meeting agency education expectations.
Tracks inventory and maintains all supplies and materials.
Ensures integrity of services through regular data entry, reporting, and file maintenance.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Adjust to agency priorities.
Maintains confidentiality regarding families, staff, and community partners.
Represents the agency in a professional manner.
Recruits families for all PGCCS options, including maintaining a waiting list.
Proficient in utilizing various virtual platforms to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
