About The Position

Six Flags Magic Mountain is hiring performers for its Holiday in the Park special event. Available roles include Dancer ($20.00/hour), Dance Captain ($21.50/hour), Vocalist ($20.00/hour), and Show Character ($20.00/hour). These are short-term positions for a specific event and period where stated in the role descriptions.

Dancers perform freestyle and choreographed routines, interact and dance with guests, and maintain clean dressing rooms. Dance Captains perform routines, follow blocking and choreography, provide notes to fellow performers when needed, communicate concerns to supervision, and keep a log of notes. Vocalists sing, play instruments, meet and greet guests, speak to crowds, and entertain park guests. Show Characters perform as body or fur-suit characters, follow show blocking and choreography, and greet and entertain guests.

Performers must bring high energy and enthusiasm and be able to work in crowds and varying weather conditions. Duties may involve carrying costumes to and from performance locations and wardrobe. Adult overtime may be required from time to time to accommodate business needs. Vocalists must be fully proficient on their instrument and join the American Federation of Musicians if not already a member.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Dancers must be physically fit, have dance experience, and have a passion for dance and stage presence.
• Must work well with others and have a positive, can-do attitude, energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to create fun experiences.
• Vocalists must be fully proficient on their instrument.
• Vocalists must join the American Federation of Musicians if not already a member.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements, including standing, talking, climbing, walking, reaching, finger movement, grasping, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversation, seeing near and far, stooping, bending, and kneeling.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat, sun, cold, wetness, humidity, and temperature changes.
• Must be able to carry and wear costume weight; role descriptions specify 5–20 pounds for Dance Captains and Show Characters and 5–10 pounds for Vocalists. The general physical requirements specify 5–10 pounds.
• Lifts over 51 pounds require help from a coworker or mechanical device.

Responsibilities

• Perform freestyle and choreographed dance routines.
• For Dance Captains, follow blocking and choreography, give notes to fellow team members when needed, communicate issues or concerns to supervision, and keep a log of notes.
• For Vocalists, sing, play musical instruments and equipment, meet and greet guests, speak to crowds, and entertain park guests.
• For Show Characters, perform as a body or fur-suit character while following show blocking and dance choreography.
• Interact with, greet, and entertain park guests with enthusiasm and high energy.
• Maintain clean dressing rooms.
• Transport costumes to and from performance locations and wardrobe.
• Work in crowds and in heat, cold, and other weather conditions during rehearsals and performances.
• Perform specific choreographed movements during shows.
