Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in developing/running hockey programs.
  • Excellent skating, hockey skills and instructional ability.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Certified in basic first aid skills (infant and adult) and injury reporting procedures.
  • Registered and insured through USA Hockey.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey equipment.
  • Passionate about teaching; possesses dynamic characteristics of energy, assertiveness, drive, enthusiasm, and fun.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of The Rinks Grassroots commitment to quality guest experiences, products, and entertainment.
  • Exemplifies strong leadership skills and serves as role model.
  • Maintains a consistent professional, motivational, enthusiastic management style.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule with changing days off and hours; to include holidays, weekends as well as early morning and late evenings.

  • USA Hockey Certification, Safesport & other CAHA state requirements

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, organize, and promote all youth and adult hockey programs.
  • Manage program registration process and administration of hockey schedules.
  • Ensure these schedules coincide with the facility master ice schedule.
  • Be present and create a dynamic environment for all youth and adult grassroots programs.
  • Assume primary responsibility for program scheduling, curriculum and instructional coverage.
  • Assist as needed with all Rinks events, USA Hockey events, training, tournaments including ADM jamboree events.
  • Oversee and manage assigned hockey coordinators (If applicable in your facility) and maintain an open line or communication, develop clear expectations and responsibilities.
  • Respond in a timely manner for all inquiries regarding youth and adult hockey.
  • Assist with check in, gear fitting, organize practice plans and lead staff on ice as needed.
  • Before and after each session, be available to answer questions and interact with players.
  • Organize and implement on ice practice plan and communicate with support staff.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and review coach ongoing development twice a year.
  • Ensure students are engaged, having fun, learning during all hockey events.
  • Be accessible to answer questions during all hockey events.
  • Oversee registration, scheduling, draft skates, and overall league set up.
  • Assist with check in, gear fitting, organize practice plan, lead coach, instruct on ice session with support coaches.
  • Responsible for preparing and implementing practice plans for each session, communicating plans to support coaches, engaging with parents after each session to answer any questions.
  • Oversee registration, run on-ice tryout, draft players, organize practice plans be present for all hockey events and games – 1 hour prior and approximately 1 hour after.
  • Organize and implement on ice practice plans and communicate with support staff.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for coach development.
  • Promote camps, assist scheduling and be present for on-ice sessions as directed by Camp Director.
  • Promote and attend adult clinics, and all grassroots initiatives and development programs.
  • Be present weekly for adult events as needed
  • Maintain ongoing manpower plan for coach and instructor staffing.
  • Work directing with assigned HR liaison and director for personnel needs.
  • Manage coach and instructor recruitment, training and ABI scheduling for hockey programs, camps, clinics, and events.
  • Monitor and approve ABI payroll bi-weekly for all coaches and staff under your supervision or as directed.
  • Conduct coach’s clinics and meetings as outlined by nationally recognized programs.
  • Ensure that each instructor provides instruction in a non-threatening, non-discriminatory manner.
  • Attend Power Play and other staff meetings or training as requested by Director or HR.
  • Assist with Rinks training and on-boarding program initiatives.
  • Follow all company polices and communicate all time off requests appropriately with your Director/GM’s as applicable.
  • Keep proper personnel records, communicate and document any incidents with your director, manager & HR as needed.
  • Assist marketing team as requested on program development, design and layout of brochures, flyers, and advertising media.
  • Responsible for integrating new programing and grassroots initiatives.
  • Assist with Social Media tips or other virtual training initiatives (subject to change with social media trends).
  • Other duties as assigned.
