About The Position

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Hockey Camp Instructor is expected to act as a role model and ambassador for McGill by demonstrating the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through participation in and instruction of various hockey camp physical activities for children ages 5-15.

Requirements

  • Completed Safe Sport Training course and True Sport Clean course
  • Experience playing hockey at the major junior, junior A or university level
  • Selected candidates must successfully pass their criminal background check to be considered for this position.
  • Must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • Knowledge of English: The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (qualifier) on a scale of 0-4.
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 Years Related Experience

  • Knowledgeable in a camp environment an asset
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Experience working with youth

Responsibilities

  • Participate in camp orientation
  • Greet and welcome campers as they arrive
  • Liaise with parents regarding campers’ specific needs and progresses
  • Lead and supervise campers and facilitate their participation during hockey practices and other related activities in order to create a positive and memorable experience for all participants
  • Coordinate activities to meet objectives within an established operating schedule
  • Assist Camp Specialists with hockey practices
  • Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp.
  • Communicate all issues requiring attention to supervisor immediately.
  • Liaise with the Winsor clinic staff regarding incidents requiring immediate medical attention
  • Ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex/arena.
