About The Position

The Hogg Auditorium Usher’s responsibility is to maintain building security, building cleanliness, ensure University Unions policies and procedures are implemented correctly, and assist staff in providing services to students, faculty, and guests in a professional and friendly manner. Hogg Auditorium Ushers are responsible for ensuring all patrons of the Hogg Auditorium have a positive experience while meeting our Hogg Auditorium Guest Policies. This position is open to both Work Study and Non-Work Study students.

Requirements

Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six (6) semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.
Effective communication skills.
High attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.
Strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

Theater experience.
Responsive and clear communication skills with regard to speaking, emails, phone calls, and text messages.
Prior employment/experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently while providing quality results
Approachable and friendly personality, ability to work well with others as a team, and solve problems on their own

Responsibilities

Assist guests to and from their seats during a show.
Interact with guests and coworkers in a professional and respectable manner.
Ensure front of house equipment and facilities in Hogg Auditorium are operating correctly through manual inspections and submitting work orders to fix problems.
Respond quickly to emergencies and aid as needed by patrons or first responders.
Complete University of Texas FSD Crowd Manager Training.
Ensure patrons and audience members are following all University, and Hogg policies.
Assist guests with other front of house tasks as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
