About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will work with other software development engineers and other discipline teams to define the systems and software across our Lunar programs. The systems and software will directly have an impact on the missions planned. Software is the heart of space vehicle development so your ability to collaborate with other discipline teams effectively will be an important aspect of this role. You will also have long term vision and strategy for the products to truly sustain lunar missions. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years professional experience minimum.
  • Experience in developing software requirements, verification plans, and test cases.
  • Experience working across systems and software disciplines, leading cross functional groups.
  • Experience in spacecraft design and operations.
  • Experience with fault management design.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing software architecture, design, and code.
  • Experience with data budgets, command and telemetry definitions, and ground system integration.
  • Experience with System Safety Assessments and reviewing safety artifacts.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Aerospace Industry experience with safety critical software and/or tools qualification activities
  • Experience with NPR 7150.2D
  • Experience with compiled languages, C/C++
  • Experience with scripting languages, Python/JavaScript

Responsibilities

  • Work with systems engineers, developers, and program managers to define system autonomy behaviors and software requirements.
  • Lead team members on software systems engineering best practices.
  • Set direction and goals for the team regarding the development of requirements, verification events, and test cases.
  • Manage hardware-software integration problems and work across vehicle and mission design teams.
  • Deeply understand the safety-critical software development process and ensure that software behavior is properly captured to ensure a safe mission.
