The Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) nationally recognized Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking an academically oriented HLA Laboratory Director/Assistant Director. MUSC is a quaternary care hospital known for its active transplantation programs and the NIH designated Hollings Cancer Center, molecular diagnostics, and cell therapy services. The department boasts approximately $5 million in extramural funding annually and is consistently ranked in the top half of pathology departments in the United States for National Institutes of Health funding. The MUSC Histocompatibility Laboratory is nationally recognized and ASHI-accredited, providing services for one of the largest solid organ transplant programs in the country. It supports both the solid organ and hematopoietic cell transplantation programs. The MUSC Transplant Center is the largest comprehensive transplant center in South Carolina, serving both adults and children. The laboratory offers a complete range of histocompatibility procedures to support MUSC solid organs transplant programs, NIH designated Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) stem cells transplant program, and the Sharing Hope SC Organ Procurement Organization.
