Language Differential Pay Available! Terros Health is hiring a Full-Time HIV/STI Prevention & ResourceSpecialist for our Mitchell location in Phoenix, AZ. High School Diploma or GED in Combination With One (1) Year of Life/Work Experience Working With HIV/STI and SUD/COD Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm Flexible to Work Weekends & Evenings Competitive Compensation Full Benefits, Including 401K and Generous PTO/PST (4+ weeks) Position Summary: The Prevention Specialist will execute effective, clear and consistent prevention services for individuals who seek treatment and prevention services for substance use disorders (SUD), identify resources to end homelessness and support recovery for people with complex health challenges. The Prevention Specialist shall also provide confidential HIV/ STI screenings, prevention interventions, and disseminate materials for the onset or spread of communicable diseases in Arizona counties. The Prevention Specialist will conduct outreach to use a client center approach to connect people with housing and employment, medical care, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and other services. Additionally, the Prevention Specialist will establish partnerships, strengthen local relationships with other advocates and community-based organizations working to address homelessness. These are fully described within the contracts with funding sources, as well as all other entities that Terros Health has contracted with in this endeavor to help maximize prevention options. This position reports to the Manager – HIV/STI Programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED in combination with one (1) year of work/life experience with SUD/COD, HIV/STI.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Word, Intermediate Level Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to assist patients, convey information, resolve issues, cultivate connections, build solid relationships and express empathy throughout the patient experience.
  • Must have valid Arizona driver’s license, be 21 years of age with minimum 3 years driving experience and meet requirements of Terros Health’s driving policy.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or apply for an Arizona fingerprint clearance card (Level 1) within 7 working days of assuming role.
  • Must pass a TB Test.
  • Willingness to undergo phlebotomy certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred – but not required.
  • Phlebotomy trained and certified preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member with other homeless prevention and HIV/STI program team members to deliver a full spectrum of prevention services to the community.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of departments and programs that are affiliated with the HIV/STI Prevention Department.
  • Conduct community recruitment and outreach throughout established geographic locations to educate residents, businesses and other stakeholders about Terros Health services.
  • Build trust with those experiencing homelessness first by helping to meet some of their basic needs (including food, clothing, showers, laundry, transportation, identification, etc.).
  • Partner with each individual to access housing, employment, medical care, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and other services.
  • Coordinate with local advocacy and service coalitions to determine the needs of individuals and solicit support from local shelters, homelessness prevention programs, faith community, local care providers.
  • Acquire and develop skills in the areas of prevention of HIV/STI’s and other communicable diseases, in addition to understanding homelessness and poverty through continuous study and participation in training.
  • Provide prevention, linkage to care, updated referral information, and case management services to all HIV/STI Prevention clients which includes the homeless population.
  • Deliver trainings and/or interventions on Substance Use, Mental Health, Social Determinants of Health, and HIV/STDs.
