About The Position

Capital Choice Pathology Lab seeks to hire an experienced Histotechnologist for our Silver Spring, MD location who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Histotechnologist you will perform and document all aspects of routine histology procedures in an efficient and superior manner, that may include: microtomy, embedding, special stains, routine staining, quality control, performs periodic maintenance and troubleshoots instruments as needed, gross prosecuting, recycling solvents and formalin, verification and distribution of slides and non-specimen GYN preparations. You will also participate in department Performance Improvement and Continuing Education, maintain competency and proficiency, and comply with safety and infection control policies. Additionally, you will assist with training and orienting new team members, perform appropriate lab duties using the Laboratory Information System, promote laboratory compliance, assist with compliance of all professional, federal, state and Cap requirements, and consistently adhere to safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and policies.

Requirements

Associates required or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Histotechinican (HT) certification or HT eligible by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
Completion of an approved Histology training
Minimum of at least two years as a bench tech in histology

Responsibilities
