About The Position

Performs both routine and complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. Knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology; acts as a technical resource for the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree with a combination of 30 semester hrs of biology and chemistry (must include both), AND successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program.
  • Bachelor Degree with a combination of 30 semester hrs of biology and chemistry (must include both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last 5 years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize duties.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of pathology management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histology.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program, AND/OR Histotechnology certification, HTL, by American Society of Clinical Pathology

Responsibilities
