About The Position

Valley View Hospital is seeking a day shift Histotechnologist. This role involves performing histological procedures to prepare surgical specimens for diagnostic pathology. The successful candidate will utilize resources and techniques effectively according to established policies and procedures, and maintain skill and knowledge to promote the Histology Department’s services.

Requirements

Graduate of a one-year accredited histology program.
Certificate in Histology, either Histotechnician or Histotechnologist Certification is required.
ASCP registered or eligible for certification.
One (1) year of experience in histology.
Knowledgeable regarding all aspects of the histology department.
Knowledgeable regarding surgical and autopsy pathology.
Knowledgeable regarding the identification and embedding of all tissue specimens.
Knowledgeable regarding the cutting and mounting of tissue specimens.
Knowledgeable in H & E staining and cover slipping of all tissue specimens.
Knowledgeable in the preparation of frozen sections.
Knowledgeable in the performance of special histochemical procedures.
Have basic computer skills.

Identification and embedding of all tissue specimens.
Cutting and mounting of tissue specimens.
H & E staining and cover slipping of all tissue specimens.
Preparation of frozen sections.
Performance of special histochemical procedures.
