Histotechnologist I - Mount Kisco, NY, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This role involves performing routine and non-routine activities in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures. The Histotechnologist I is capable of performing all the duties and responsibilities of a Histotechnician I and II. Key tasks include ensuring proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples, processing associated paperwork, ensuring proper tissue processing, embedding processed tissue in paraffin, performing microtomy of embedded tissue, preparing slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining, and performing cover slipping of stained slides. The role also involves preparing solutions and reagents for special stain procedures, obtaining and validating tissue for special stains, performing all special stain procedures, and potentially preparing solutions/reagents and performing IHC procedures. Additionally, the position requires filing finished blocks and slides, performing routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, troubleshooting minor equipment failures, documenting remedial actions, adhering to quality control policies, and ensuring compliance with all safety, quality control, quality assurance, local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
