Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country. Produces high quality microscopic slides of tissues received while maintaining patient confidentiality. Also performs all necessary duties and procedures required for the processing of specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease. Performs complex immunohistochemistry procedures to aid in diagnosis.

Requirements

  • routine H&E staining
  • Special stains
  • Proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results.
  • Ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to prepare reagents.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Histology is preferred.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) through ASCP, or 5 years additional experience/education with certification as a Histotechnician (HT) through ASCP will be considered in lieu of HTL certification.
