About The Position

Indiana University Health is Indiana’s most comprehensive health system, with 16 hospitals and more than 34,000 team members serving Hoosiers across the state. The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country. The Histotechnologist at the LAB produces high quality microscopic slides of tissues received while maintaining patient confidentiality. Also performs all necessary duties and procedures required for the processing of specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease. Performs complex immunohistochemistry procedures to aid in diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) through ASCP is required.
  • Embedding
  • Cutting
  • Routine H&E staining
  • Special stains
  • Proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results.
  • Ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to prepare reagents.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in Histology is preferred.
  • Additional experience/education will be considered in lieu of certification.
