About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Histology Technician to join our team in Seattle, WA. This is a Casual / Per Diem position. The role involves processing human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination, performing technical duties for histopathological slide production, and embedding, orienting, and sectioning tissue. Responsibilities include performing routine histology procedures like H&E and special staining, conducting immunohistochemical (IHC) testing, preparing stains and reagents, operating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation, reporting test results, and performing quality control procedures. The technician will also maintain equipment logs, follow SOPs, resolve issues, ensure a safe work environment, and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to meet CLIA requirements

  • ASCP Histology certification (HT or HTL)
  • 1 year or more of experience with routine histology procedures and equipment
  • 1 year or more of experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC)

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately read and verify labels

Responsibilities

  • Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examination
  • Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides from surgical specimens
  • Embed, orient, and section tissue using a microtome, ensuring proper slide preparation
  • Perform routine histology procedures, including H&E and special staining techniques
  • Conduct immunohistochemical (IHC) testing on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections
  • Prepare stains, reagents, and solutions required for laboratory procedures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot manual and automated laboratory instrumentation
  • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs and documentation
  • Follow laboratory SOPs for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting
  • Identify, document, and resolve issues that may affect test performance
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all laboratory safety protocols
