About The Position

Responsible for providing routine and specialized histology services in support of the clinical, research, and educational missions of the Department and College of Medicine. This position receives, accession, verifies, processes, embeds, sections, stains, and prepares tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation and research applications. The Histotechnician operates and maintains histology laboratory equipment; performs routine, special, immunohistochemical, and frozen section staining procedures; maintains accurate specimen labeling and documentation; and ensures compliance with quality control standards, laboratory safety requirements, regulatory guidelines, and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Histotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
  • A minimum of one year of histology laboratory experience
  • Eligibility for certification as a Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • ASCP certification
