Requirements

• Successful completion of Histotechnician Program from a NAACLS accredited School; or an Associate Degree and training at a hospital and met ASCP eligibility requirements for certification; or ASCP certified.
• 2 years experience in Histology preferred.
• ASCP (preferred) or eligible
• Working knowledge of Special Stains/IHC Technique

Responsibilities

• The purpose of a Histotechnician is the processing of surgical specimens to preserve the tissue morphology and cell structure.
• Prepares quality and representative tissue sections on glass slides for microscopic evaluation.
• Performs special stains, including immunohistochemical (IHC) procedures as requested by the pathologist.
• Performs frozen sections
