Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
Clinical or histology experience 0-1 year required
Must possess fundamental knowledge of basic histotechnique to include fixation, decalcification, processing, embedding, and routine staining.
Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

Processes, embeds, and sections tissue for slides.
Embeds control tissue and cuts control slides to maintain an adequate control library.
Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, including oiling and cleaning microtomes, cleaning processors, and changing staining solutions.
Ensures appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain employee safety at all times.
Maintains case identification and ensures appropriate tracking throughout the entire process to ensure patient safety.
Observes hospital and laboratory policies and safety practices and maintains a safe, clean, and prepared work area.
