This position will work in collaboration with department leadership to support the needs of the department. The role involves accessioning specimens, embedding tissue, cutting blocks, making slides, and staining slides using routine special and immunohistochemical staining methods. The Histology Technologist is also responsible for maintaining equipment, following and documenting quality control procedures, assisting in the orientation of new employees, and staying current with technical knowledge and instrumentation. The position assists pathologists in various tasks and performs frozen sections. There may be a requirement to cross-train in other laboratory duties.
