About The Position

Quad City Gastroenterology is seeking a full-time Histology Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing paraffin embedding of biopsy specimens to prepare them for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist for surgical cases. You will ensure the quality of tissue slides by adhering to technical and quality control procedures. Your duties may also include documentation and assisting with grossing.

Requirements

• High school diploma, associate's degree, or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college or university.
• One (1) or more years of experience as a Histology Tech.
• Grossing eligible per Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Registered as a Histology Technician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets all responsibility requirements established by the Supervisor of Laboratory Services.
• Responsible for the preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic evaluations by the pathologist, including surgical, research and outside cases.
• Assumes responsibility for quality of tissue slides, following technical and quality control procedures.
• Maintains work area equipment supplies.
• Performs special techniques including special stains.
• Monitors compliance with safety regulations.
• Performs other related duties as needed.
