About The Position

Primarily responsible for prompt preparation and staining of microscopic sections from tissue blocks as selected by the Pathologist.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to operate scientific instruments.
• Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange information with laboratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, and physician office staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least one year of training and/or experience in high complexity testing; or an Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology with at least two years training and/or experience in high complexity testing.
• Requires judgment including prioritizing tasks according to medical urgency, efficiency, and good guest relations skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a recognized Histotechnology training program, resulting in an HT or HLT certification, is strongly preferred.
• Certification with ASCP, AMT, or another national registering body is strongly preferred.
