About The Position

Prepares and stains routine surgical pathology specimens under general supervision. This position is identified as a safety sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act. Saint Francis is a Catholic, not-for-profit Health system based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is the largest private employer in Eastern Oklahoma with over 12,000 employees and 1,000 physicians. The health system includes multiple hospitals and numerous clinic locations.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or equivalent hours in a related biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university.
• 0 - 6 months laboratory experience.
• PC skills needed for efficient computer utilization.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize work in an effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Embeds, cuts and stains pathology specimens under direction of a Histologist.
• Receives and accessions specimens.
• Prepares frozen sections under direct supervision of a Histologist.
• Maintains equipment and work areas.
• Supports laboratory goals by demonstrating teamwork, service excellence, adhering to established guidelines and policies and looking for ways to improve processes.
