About The Position

Prepares and stains routine surgical pathology specimens under general supervision. This role involves embedding, cutting, and staining pathology specimens, receiving and accessioning specimens, and preparing frozen sections under direct supervision. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining equipment and work areas, and supporting laboratory goals through teamwork, service excellence, and adherence to guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent hours in a related biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university.
  • 0 - 6 months laboratory experience.
  • PC skills needed for efficient computer utilization.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work in an effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Embeds, cuts and stains pathology specimens under direction of a Histologist.
  • Receives and accessions specimens.
  • Prepares frozen sections under direct supervision of a Histologist.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Supports laboratory goals by demonstrating teamwork, service excellence, adhering to established guidelines and policies and looking for ways to improve processes.
